Who should have a HeartStart?
Anyone who wants a safer home or office. Consider the other essential safety equipment you own to protect your loved ones in case of an emergency, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, flashlights, first-aid kits. The HeartStart AED can save a life if sudden cardiac arrest should occur.
HeartStart was designed with you in mind. This award-winning device has been designed for virtually anyone to help save the life of a person who suffers a sudden cardiac arrest.
Like other pieces of safety equipment, you buy HeartStart hoping that you never have to use it. Yet in that moment you need it, HeartStart must be ready. It performs comprehensive daily self-tests. You can check its status at a glance.
Philips, the leader in portable defibrillation technology, designed the HeartStart Onsite Defibrillator specifically for the non-medical person and made the onsite one of the easiest and most reliable defibrillators available.
How it works?
Integrated SMART Pads placed on the patient's skin transmit information to the defibrillator which senses and adapts to your actions each step of the way. The AED tells you whether to deliver a shock or not and how to do CPR. The HeartStart Onsite AED includes proven Philips technologies for heart rhythm assessment (SMART Analysis) and defibrillation energy delivery (SMART Biphasic). And the Philips HeartStart defibrillators can be used to treat infants, children and adults.
The Philips HeartStart Onsite AED has training cartridges and other accessories which allow you to use your Onsite for training and demonstrations. The HeartStart AED is powered by a disposable battery. Just click the battery in place, and the defibrillator is standing by, ready for use.
Between uses, the automated external defibrillator performs daily, weekly, and monthly self-tests of its electrical components, subsystems, and battery to help ensure continued reliability and readiness. A pads integrity test, which checks daily that the cartridge is properly installed and that the defibrillator pads are in working order provides an additional level of assurance. As long as the green Ready light on the defibrillator is blinking, you can be certain the Philips HeartStart AED is ready for use. If any part of the defibrillator needs attention, the READY light turns off and the defibrillator will chirp to alert you. Just light the battery in your smoke alarm. Pressing the flashing blue Information button provides verbal guidance to help you identify and correct the situation.
Additional accessories are available for the Heartstart Onsite AED. If you wish to display your AED where the public can see it, you might want to consider a wall cabinet, a bracket to mount the walll cabinet, and an AED sign to hang above the cabinet. If your defibrillator is for a small office, or home, you might just need a carry case to protect your defibrillator from the elements. In addition to wall cabinets and carry cases, we also have replacement batteries, children's pads, electrodes, training matterials and plenty of services like AED oversight, CPR/AED training, and soon we will offer first aid supplies. So check out our website for additional products under the Philips AED.
How do I use the Philips HeartStart Defibrillator?
If you suspect that someone is in sudden cardiac arrest--they are not breathing normally and they are unconscious and you cannot wake the person--call 911
Then Pull the cartridge handle--it's marked "PULL" in large letters initiating the clear calm voice that will guide you through the process.
Next, Place the pads on the patient's bare chest and follow the voice instructions. They will tell you exactly what to do. HeartStart can even sense and adapt to your actions. If you are moving quickly, the voice prompts stay with you. If you are taking more time, HeartStart provides increasingly detailed instructions to help you place the pads. Once HeartStart senses that the pads have been applied to the skin, it automatically begins analyzing the patient's heart rhythm. HeartStart decides whether a shock is needed--you don't have to.
Lastly, Press the shock button. If HeartStart decides a shock is needed, it will instruct you to press the flashing orange button HeartStart is designed to only let you deliver a shock if it determines one is needed. HeartStart even provides CPR coaching.
It's that easy. You can feel confident that the defibrillator is providing easy-to-follow, straightforward direction and coaching. To see a demonstration online, go to Philips Rescue Packages. A Philips Heartstart Demonstration is available online which shows the defibrillator in action.
